I appreciate the fact that there’s truly something out there for everyone. From sports, to world news, life hacks, true crime & murder mysteries, how to be a minimalist, and even the chronicles of a millennial, surely there’s something relate-able for you.
Podcasts are very accessible in today’s world. Being the Spotify junkie I am , that’s where I do most of my listening. Other common ways to listen are to use the native podcast app on iOS, go directly to the podcast’s site, or popular streaming sites like podbay.fm, stitcher, and soundcloud.
There’s even a podcast made right here in Arizona called the Finding Arizona Podcast. This podcast covers all things local- from small business owners and brands, to local influencers, bloggers, and events.
Yesterday I binged straight through a 6 part podcast that left me shocked and in disbelief. This is also coming from someone who enjoys starting their week off with the latest episode of 48 Hours, so take what you will from that.
I started a post on Facebook about listening to this podcast, and was surprised at how many people had something to say about it. So I thought it would be worth sharing on the blog.
Here are 3 podcasts that I would highly recommend.
“John despises his Alabama Town and decides to do something about it. He asks a reporter to investigate the son of a wealthy family who’s allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But then someone else ends up dead, sparking a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man’s life.”
From the creators of other popular podcasts, This American Life and Serial, S-Town is easily one of my favorite podcasts. It has all the right makings of an amazing podcast- outstanding journalism, unbelievable characters, and a crazy story-line that develops in real time as the podcast is being produced.
This is only a 7 part podcast series and we’ve listened to it multiple times in our house. In fact my husband is obsessed with it. We quote the main character’s one-liners all the time because they’re totally worth quoting. Trust me on that one. You won’t be disappointed and you’ll finish wanting more!
‘Up and vanished’ is an investigative podcast that explores the unsolved disappearance of Georgia beauty queen and high school teacher, Tara Grinstead, an 11-year-old mystery that is the largest case file in georgia’s history. Follow along as host Payne Lindsey, a documentarian turned amateur investigator, examines old case evidence, re-interviews persons of interest, and uncovers new leads, while guiding listeners through his real time investigation. A recent break in the case may have given us more questions than answer, and the main question still remains… What happened to Tara Grinstead?”
This podcast is brought to you by Director and Documentary Film-maker Payne Lindsey. Inspired by by docu-series like The Jinx and Making a Murderer, this podcast is very well produced. And you’ll finish with an actual answer to the above question of “What happened to Tara Grinstead?”
This is a podcast about seduction, deception, forgiveness, denial, and ultimately survival. From L.A. Times reporter Christopher Goffard.
WOAH. You guys. I started this one yesterday and finished it by last night. I couldn’t stop.
It’s only 6 episodes less than an hour each. Not only is each episode great, but there were moments where my heart was racing and I was talking to myself out loud at work.
“WHAT! Are you freaking kidding me?!”
The ending had me sitting at our dining room table with my hand over my mouth, cringing from the words entering my ear.
INTENSE is an understatement. I won’t say anymore because you’ll have to hear for yourself. I also won’t judge you as you start talking to yourself too.
So stop what you’re doing and go listen! Actually, no need to stop what you’re doing because that’s the great thing about podcasts- you can listen while you go on with your life.
But- you were warned…. try not to become obsessed. There’s so much good stuff out there.
